On December 3, 1984, a methyl-isocyanate gas leak occurred at Union Carbide India Ltd.’s Bhopal pesticide plant killing over 3,000 people and injuring tens of thousands in one of the world’s largest individual catastrophes of all time. Mike and Roberta were lead counsel for the Government of India for damages arising from the disaster. The case was eventually settled in India in 1987 for $470 million and involved setting International safety standards for multinational companies.
